1) Can you share your inspiration or influences you will be working on for the upcoming April market?
I continue to be inspired by the Haute Couture especially from the late 1940’s to the mid 1950’s when the newer Parisian couturiers…Dior, Balmain, Jacques Fath and Balenciaga were having their big first moments. I love the Post War opulence and excess… the sophistication and chic of that period, and the optimism. These gowns juxtaposed with the black and white fashion photography of that era has created an indelible impression on my design aesthetic!
2) What will you be offering new for market (fabrics, silhouettes)?
Texture, whether taffeta, laces and 3D embroideries are prominently featured in this next collection. I normally work a lot in sleek Mikado, but I found a threadwork embroidered Mikado that had a richness and opulence that I could not resist. Also new for me is a Satin Faille that is rich, buttery and has a beautiful drape. My silhouettes are either grand and voluminous or sleek and architectural… a world that I am very comfortable in.
3) Describe who your bride is and what they want to wear today.
The Mark Ingram bride is super savvy and up on her fashion… but for her wedding she definitely has a nod to the timeless and classic. So classic with an edge would describe her best. Most importantly, the feel and the fit of the gown is paramount, and I spend so much time in the design process to get that right, along with making certain that each gown flatters an array of figure types.
