MONVIEVE INTRODUCED A CLIMATE PLEDGE TO HELP DELIVER THE INDUSTRY INTO A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
Monvieve unveils the “One veil, One tree, Our Promise” initiative as part of the company’s continued effort to address climate change. Monvieve celebrates bridal as a composite of lifestyle, culture and emotion and delivers deeply artistic and visually informed collections in support of the modern, high fashion bride. Meeting the bridal world at the forefront of the fashion landscape, a Monvieve heirloom veil is a consummate piece of living heritage meant to be passed through the generations. It is a couture accessory that also takes center stage in the circular economy by supporting the health of our planet. All collections are fully made by hand and deeply rooted in the principles of slow fashion. Each piece is made to order and requires numerous hours to complete.
We champion the bespoke processes found in the rich design cultures of Made in Italy and Made in France and have a profound respect for our artisans. We also work directly with innovative mills that provide the highest environmental and transparency standards to eliminate dangerous chemicals from the fashion supply chain.
With S/S 22 we’ve formalized our new position. At Monvieve we feel a moral responsibility to further integrate sustainability values in our production and have partnered with the National Forest Foundation to offset the carbon footprint of transporting our pieces from our factory in Italy to our clients. For every veil that we sell we plant a tree. It’s a hallmark of our commitment to sustainability and helps to empower each bride in their knowledge of impact and their understanding of where luxury and sustainability intersect.
Along with this pledge, we look to S/S 22 to inspire during this season of continued disruption. In a moment when a wedding has been paired down to the most essential elements and aligning with our underlying philosophy that a product must be highly original and transformative to resonate with a bride, we’ve developed a new, singular cut: the Monvieve Mantellina. It is our version of an elbow length and it will be housed permanently in the collections going forward. It is offered in a myriad of styles and colorways including our color of the season: an antiqued silver peony.
And while creating shorter additions to the collection, we’ve also seen some examples of cathedral lengths taking center stage. In support, we created a series of new styles that utilizes an extraordinary Chantilly and is cut with our signature intarsia technique. In the end, when it’s just the two of you walking through the woods rather than in a cathedral, the aisle ends at the horizon. Anything is possible, and in a company that was built around the idea of making available the bespoke Italian techniques and heirloom collections that were originally developed for our couture clients, we hope to continue serving our high fashion brides with the aesthetics, heritage, and craft that we have come to be known for. And now, we are looking forward to making the world a better place...one veil at a time.
