Oscars 2020: Top Jewelry Looks + Bridal Council Members on the Red Carpet
AS REPORTED BY AMY ELLIOTT
A black-and-white palette dominated the red carpet at the 2020 Academy Awards, and sometimes shifted to pewter and pale pink—these colors provided perfect blank canvases for an array of wow moments in the form of megawatt diamond earrings, necklaces, and rings.
Double Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson (Jojo Rabbit, Marriage Story) was wearing $2.5 million dollars of Forevermark jewels, including earrings by jewelry designer Anita Ko, who collaborated with the diamantaire to create Johansson’s dazzling danglers made with 26.65 cts. t.w. pear and round-cut diamonds.

Pearls are rarely seen on the red carpet, but presenter Salma Hayek chose a sculptural pearl- and-diamond suite from Boucheron that gave her Grecian white gown a regal quality—especially since she chose to wear the maison’s Feuilles de Laurier Question Mark necklace as a tiara. Divine.

Meanwhile, statement necklaces were in abundance: Presenter and “wonder woman” Gal Godot layered a a triple-row Tiffany diamond necklace dangling an oval diamond pendant over the high-necked black lace bodice of her gown.

Joker star Zazie Beetz opted for not one, but two high jewelry necklaces from Bulgari, injecting a little color with the choker, which incorporated emeralds, including an oval-cut emerald centerpiece weighing 5.49 carats.

And speaking of color: Best Supporting Actress nominee, and rising red carpet star, Florence Pugh (Little Women) was all in, pairing her teal Louis Vuitton gown with the house’s Goutte de Sang necklace, a memorable creation in diamonds in which a trail of the stones draped down her neck like a loosely tied ribbon and culminated with a faceted pink imperial topaz pendant.

A touch of green also landed on Best Actress Nominee Saiorse Ronan (Little Women)—she wore a Gucci insect brooch with tsavorite (green garnet), and diamond wings, as a barrette.
