10 Questions with Sarah Abbasi Founder of Sahroo
1) What inspired you to start this business?
I wanted to create garments that felt like pieces of art, that would be treasured for many years to come. We do this by supporting ancient traditions of hand crafting our matching sets, inspired by gorgeous colors and motifs in nature, and designing for the woman of today.
2) What is the Sahroo bridal capsule collection? Describe the concept.
We launched Sahroo in the spring of 2018 and we quickly learned that the lion’s share of our customers were brides seeking our pant suits, caftan sets and crop top duos for their bridal showers, rehearsal dinners and ceremonies. We debuted our bridal capsule collection for the brides who are opting to wear something besides a white gown.
3) Who is your customer?
The Sahroo woman is strong, intelligent and fashion forward. She is looking to wear a beautiful piece that reflects her values and tells a beautiful story around craftsmanship. On her wedding day, she wants to feel equal parts empowered and beautiful.
4) What are the fabrics and where are they made?
At Sahroo, we believe that beautiful garments begin with luxurious fabrics. Our matching sets are handcrafted by incredibly talented, third generation artisans in Lahore, Pakistan. We are committed to only using pure fabrics. Our debut Bridal Collection (“The Love Collection”) is comprised of a variety of pure silks: silk georgette, silk chiffon, raw silk and pure medium silk for the lining of our fabrics.
5) What is the theme for this season?
Love and Magic! Our debut bridal collection is a true celebration of love and magic AND the woman wearing the garment.
6) How informed are the brides when they come in for an appointment?
Brides are more informed than ever before. They have planned their entire wedding with social media inspiration, and they have a concept in their minds as to how they want to look on their wedding day. Although they have it mostly figured out, we still take time to educate them on fit and fabrics, and we offer our knowledge to help bring their dream gown to life.
7) How does one order a garment?
Our garments are sold online. You place your order through the Sahroo website, and we are with you every step of the way, through any questions you may have or to ease any concerns. We will also make sure to recommend trusted seamstresses for alterations in your area, should the need arise.
8) How long does it take to make the garments once they are ordered?
We average about 4 to 6 weeks to deliver to our clients.
9) What are your price points?
Individual pieces range in price from $450 to $2,750, for our Victoria caftan. Entire outfits range from $875 to $3,500.
10) How is Sahroo committed to being mindful of the environmental footprint?
All of our pieces are made to order and hand crafted. Through each step of our production process, we are conscious of minimizing waste. For example, we only purchase enough fabric for each piece and have very little wasted fabric. We are committed to using only recycled materials for our packaging, and as part of our ongoing partnership with One Tree Planted, we are dedicated to planting five trees for every order placed.
