INSIDE THE STUDIO: IDAN COHEN - HOUSE OF IDAN

As we approach the much-anticipated New York Luxury Bridal Fashion Week this October, one name stands out among bridal designers—Idan Cohen. Known for his luxurious and ethereal designs, Cohen captured the hearts of both retailers and media alike last season at the St. Regis Hotel. The overwhelming response to his previous collection has driven the designer to take his craft to even greater heights in his upcoming Fall 2025 collection. We had the pleasure of sitting down with Cohen to discuss his latest inspirations, new techniques, and what to expect from his presentation.

Last season’s show at the St. Regis was met with immense praise from both retailers and the media. How has that response influenced the Fall 2025 collection?

Idan Cohen: Honestly, the response was incredible. It really opened my eyes to what brides and retailers are looking for—something unique and almost other worldly. They’re not just looking for a dress, they’re looking for a work of art that makes them feel like they’re stepping into a fairy tale. The idea that the gown could sculpt the body and transfer light in such a magical way really resonated with people. It was inspiring, and it pushed me to explore new couture fabrications, details, and techniques for the Fall 2025 collection. I want to keep that ethereal, almost pixie-like element alive, but with a deeper focus on craftsmanship.

You’ve mentioned that light plays a significant role in your designs. Can you tell us more about how you’re achieving that in this new collection?

Idan Cohen: Absolutely. I’ve always been fascinated by how light interacts with fabrics. For this collection, I’ve really invested in the finest Swarovski crystals and intricate beading that catch and reflect light beautifully. It’s all about creating this radiant effect that transforms the bride as she makes her big entrance. I want the gown to illuminate her, almost as if the dress itself is alive.

But beyond just light, I’ve also embraced couture silhouettes with subtle embellishments that really highlight the natural drape of some exquisite imported fabrics I’m working with this season. I’ve reintroduced pure silk gowns into the collection, which gives the pieces such an elegant flow and timeless appeal. The way silk moves is unmatched—it’s like liquid on the skin. For me, that combination of light, drape, and material is what brings the magic to life.

Your shows are always known for their grand aesthetic. What can we expect from the presentation itself this season?

Idan Cohen: This time, I’m opting for a more intimate setting. I want the audience to really get up close and appreciate the details—the intricate beading, the hand-sewn lace, and the trapunto techniques. It’s one thing to see the gowns on a runway from a distance, but it’s another to witness these elements in person, where you can truly appreciate the craftsmanship. I’m excited for people to see how much thought and detail goes into each gown, especially with the introduction of these new fabrics and couture techniques.

Can you share any final thoughts on the Fall 2025 collection and what brides can expect?

Idan Cohen: This collection is a continuation of what I’ve been building, but with a fresh, innovative twist. Brides can expect gowns that are both timeless and modern—sculptural yet ethereal. My goal is for every bride to feel like the most magical version of herself when she wears one of my dresses. From the finest crystals to the impeccable finishing, every gown tells its own story. I’ve also included designs for those looking for something less traditional, like our short reception gowns, which are fun and elegant at the same time.

It’s all about creating an experience for the bride—whether it’s a classic silk gown that flows like water or a beaded piece that catches the light like a prism. I can’t wait to share it with everyone this October.

With excitement building for October’s Bridal Fashion Week, it’s clear that Idan Cohen’s Fall 2025 collection will be nothing short of extraordinary. His dedication to couture craftsmanship, attention to detail, and passion for creating ethereal, light-infused designs are sure to make this season’s presentation a must-see for brides and bridal industry insiders alike.
