10 Questions With Designer Kristie Romanos of Esposacouture

Designer Kristie Romanos of Esposacouture

1) Tell us about your up bringing and how you became a bridal designer?

Born in a family passionate about bridal couture, I acquired the art of sewing and a taste for fashion at a young age. Ambitious about a career in bridal luxury, I pursued a master’s degree in fashion marketing in Italy after which I completed a fashion design degree in London and a bridal consultant degree in New York.

2) Has it always been in your DNA to design wedding dresses?

My passion for bridal luxury grew within me and around me. Born to a family business established around bridal luxury, I was seeing myself delving into the bridal world with the thirst and the interest of a fervent student. I could call this luck, but I prefer to call it destiny because I believe that fashion and I were bound to meet in this life.

3) Describe the aesthetic vision of your designs.

Since my early years of apprenticeship and discovery, I had a penchant for haute couture and I knew that this was going to be my “terrain” within Esposa. The whole process of creating sophisticated designs that would reflect romance in a luxurious way has always been fascinating for me.

4) Is there a signature Esposacouture look?

Being a romantic myself and a lover of all things sophisticated and outstanding in their own unique style, I make sure to inject this side of my personality in my creations. Needless to say that my taste is strongly influenced by the fabrics, colors, visuals and experiences I was exposed to while growing up in the world of fashion. Impregnated by thousands of images and inspired by the nature of things around me, my imagination draws sketches of my mind that translate on pieces of paper before taking shapes in cuts and designs.

That’s how Esposacouture creations see the light, through looks of love weaved in utmost elegance and laced with delicate fabrics. Designs that strive to inspire romance and flatter thousands of women around the world.

5) How many lines do you design?

I have two lines :

Esposacouture is tailor-made for the romantic and the sophisticated. The atelier’s enchanting creations redefine the glamorous woman through rare and luxurious fabrics, elegant designs, meticulous details, and an unmatched craftsmanship.

Plume By ESPOSA is designed for all the young, modern brides to be who are looking for a simple dress yet has a touch of couture.

6) Where do you get your inspiration?

Besides stemming from passion, inspiration comes from everything that moves us and impacts our brains.  It is both emotional and visual. When combined with the individual character and the “vécu” of the artist, this is when the identity of the latter is defined in the art world or his field of expertise. This is how I can say that my inspiration for creating my Esposacouture designs emanates from these three elements: my passion, my course of life and what I’ve been exposed to, and my character or what can be defined as my innate behavior and tastes.

7) Where is our work studio?

Our atelier is in Beirut, Lebanon.

8) What kind of fabric and embellishments do you like to work with?

Mainly I love to mix and match different kinds of French lace (like Chantilly, lurex, Calais ) with a hand beaded guipure.

9) Describe the type of venue where the bride wears an Esposacouture gown.

An Esposacouture bride would look into a venue like a castle or an outdoor garden at a villa or a high end luxury hotel.

10) Where are your gowns available?

My gowns are available mainly in GCC with a presence in Lebanon, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and many countries worldwide, including New York, Tokyo, Milan, etc.
