Top Retailer Picks: Fall 2019

RACHEL LEONARD ASKS HER 3 BIG QUESTIONS OF EVERY MARKET TO OUR TOP RETAILER MEMBERS.

Bridal Reflections

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

This year our favorite collections were Leah Da Gloria and Galia Lahav.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

We saw an exciting trend specifically with designer Leah Da Gloria.  Her collection consists of very delicate silk satin charmeuse dresses with very clean lines that are well structured to focus on the shape of the bride.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

We plan on buying romantic, full satin ballgowns that are off the shoulder with circular skirts and very delicate artwork.

CHIC PARISIEN

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

My favorite collections were all of them!!! So many beautiful gowns this season.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

We saw tons of off-the-shoulder gowns throughout all the designers and many chic and simple shapes. Additionally we saw rich fabrics and tone-on-tone embroidery.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

I plan on buying some boho looks to really balance out my merchandise mix.

KLEINFELD bridal

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

Amsale, Lazaro, Anna Campbell, Jane Hill, Reem Acra and Morilee by Madeline Gardner.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

Capes!! Dresses were shown with capes, as well as a lot of plunging necklines. The classic, unadorned trend is getting stronger. Additionally styles have become more varied, less sexy and see-through with the illusion backs/fronts phasing out.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

We plan to buy styles with an emphasis on detail and quality - with more new fabrication such as stretch laces.

Lovely Bride

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

We loved Rime Arodaky, Tara Lauren, and Sarah Seven this season!  We also loved the newness at Toni Federici for veils.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

Modern simplicity continues and we are loving all of the clean silhouettes. A welcome addition was ornate accessories like overskirts, ‘wings’ for dresses, and some interesting new veil shapes that pair perfectly with modern and clean silhouettes.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

We’ll be continuing with two extremes, fit and flair V-neck gowns, and soft ballgowns in floating fabrics.  The common thread is that they all have a sexy element in their bodice.

Mark Ingram

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

All of my designers presented very strong new collections. My favorites were: Carolina Herrera, Costarellos, Ines di Santo, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Naeem Khan, Reem Accra and Vera Wang. Mira Zwillinger showed a beautiful capsule collection of new gowns to expand on themes showed in April. I am particularly excited about bridal newbies J. Andreatta and Cushnie Bridal, who I am adding to my roster.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

My favorite trend is jumpsuits and pantsuits. Naeem Khan, Ines di Santo, Viktor & Rolf and J. Andreatta showed these as high-fashion first looks that are worn instead of gowns. But they are also smashing ‘change into’ looks.   We have already had very strong selling of jumpsuits by Viktor & Rolf for past 3 seasons.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

Jumpsuits, pantsuits, gold embroidery and metallic lace, sleek unadorned long sleeve gowns (a la Meghan Markle), capes and cape like sleeves.

Mon Amie

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

Justin Alexander Signature, Autumn Silk Bridal and Suzanne Neville.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

A few of the main trends we saw were cold shoulders and delicate easy off the shoulder silhouettes. Overskirts continued to be a big trend since it gives the brides the look of two gowns in one. There were also more sheaths and ball gowns present among the many different collections.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

All of them!

Panache

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

One off my favorite collections was Inbal Dror. She stays true to her vision - introducing some very beautiful crochet lace on some of her bustier styles. Sleeves are back much stronger this season. I was also happy to see Matthew Christopher with some really interesting new laces on his iconic fit and flare styles that brides love so much. Sareh Nouri also had some very strong pieces utilizing her amazing fit.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

Some of the trends I saw were just clean looks off the shoulder with a focus on using better fabrics .

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

I think I will most likely add some cleaner looks in both close to the body styling and of course the ball gowns.

Stanley Korshak

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

Galia Lahav took my breath away as always. The gowns had a much more romantic feel than past seasons and had more soft full silhouettes.  Anne Barge had a very strong collection that appeals to the traditional bride and gives a great value for the bride who wants quality without spending double digits on her gown.  Ines Di Santo never fails to impress with her fabulous couture gowns that are for the bride who wants to show off her fashion forward side. Sareh Nouri mastered the gown for the southern bride - tradition mixed with elegance that brides, mothers, and their grandmothers can all agree on.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

The ball gown is BACK in a big way complete with crowns.  Brides are embracing the full skirts, long veils and accessories. What is old is new again this season.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

Ball gowns that are both embellished and plain. Accessories that are bold and complement the gowns by drawing attention to the brides face.

THE WEDDING SALON OF MANHASSET

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

Our favorite collections from the Fall 2019 market were Anne Barge, Gemy Maalouf, Ines di Santo, Pronovias and Rivini.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

We did not see any new or exciting trends this season - we saw a repeat from last season which included flowers, vines, shimmering embroidery with a fresh, light and airy feeling. This is our main reason for supporting a once a year bridal market.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

We feel that our inventory incorporates all the major trends in the bridal market - it is fresh and up-to-date. As a result, we plan to select only those gowns that will enhance our Wedding Salon inventory.

The White Dress By The Shore

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

Ines Di Santo, Reem Acra and Jenny Yoo.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

I loved the return to a classic and traditional look (thanks to the Duchess of Sussex).  It was refreshing to see so many sleeves and alternatives to strapless and the plunging neckline. Halters graced many runways and that was such a refreshing look.  That neckline is feminine and a bit sexy. It is sure to be a hot new trend! I loved all of the jumpsuits on the runway.  Ines Di Santo and Justin Alexander had some of the best! I adore the idea of this look with a tulle skirt over it for the ceremony.

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

The trends that we will invest in are clean, classic silhouettes, gowns with sleeves, halters, feminine appliques, aline skirts, and gowns with spaghetti straps.

White OF DUBLIN

1)  What were some of your favorite collections?

My designers all presented beautiful collections. I was especially impressed with Galia Lahav, Sassi Holford, Ian Stuart, Angel Rivera and Romona Keveza. Mira Zwillinger put out a stunning capsule collection, and Kelly Faetanini had a lovely, yet unique collection that remained approachable.

2) Did you see any new or exciting trends this season?

We saw feathers and feather look-a-like's - so fun! We also saw the return of the one-shoulder, as well as halters with high necks. Strong, simple, yet sophisticated looks continued to grace the runways. These styles are trending toward more structure with crisp lines, subtle twists and unexpected surprises. Overskirts and capes are also making an impact. It's wonderful to be able to enhance a look with an overskirt or cape! Add a metal belt (another new trend), and you'll nail your sale!

3)  What new trends do you plan to buy for your store?

We have many of these up and coming trends already in the boutique, partly from purchasing early from some of our beloved international designers. But, we will be picking up a little bit of everything to compliment our existing stock. Keeping current with trends in the shop is important, especially in the fast-paced age of social media.
