10 Questions with Rachel Jo Silver Founder of Love Stories TV

1) What is Love Stories TV?
Love Stories TV is the first and only video platform for wedding ideas and inspiration. On lovestoriestv.com wedding videographers and newlyweds from all over the world upload their professionally produced real wedding videos and provide all of the details about the wedding: the designers, the vendors, the venue, the style, etc. Every month 9 million brides and grooms-to-be use our site and social channels to find ideas, products, and services for their wedding.

2)  What is the mission?
Our mission is to connect brides and grooms with a pipeline of ideas, products, and services and to connect wedding businesses with a pipeline of customers in the most fun and entertaining way possible.

3) What was your prior experience?
My background is in building communities and identifying the content that women want to watch and helps them make purchase decisions. I spent 4+ years at Birchbox where I was the first social media hire and then went on to run Social Marketing and Content Strategy.

4) What inspired you to start this?
In 2013 I got married and had very little to do with my own wedding – I didn’t visit the venue until the rehearsal! My mother and grandmother are pro event planners and they did everything (I’m so lucky). I declined having a wedding video because I thought they were “cheesy” and immediately after the wedding I regretted this decision. Not only did my family and friends surprise us with an amazing flash dance mob but I couldn't remember the speeches, vows, toasts, etc. It all goes by so quickly. This regret caused me to start paying attention to my friends wedding videos on Facebook and I was blown away by. These looked more like feature film trailers than what I remembered wedding videos to be. It occurred to me that this video showcases the products and services purchased for the wedding in the best possible light and that these videos would be very powerful when researching a venue or dress or florist etc etc. That’s how Love Stories TV got its start.

5) How do you submit a wedding video?
Professional wedding videographers and newlyweds can upload unlimited wedding videos for free. They can be any length though typically people upload the 4-7 minute highlight film. Videographers can control the privacy of their videos and use our product to host, store, and embed videos on their website eliminating the need to pay for Vimeo or other tools. When the uploader makes a video public he or she adds all of the wedding details: designers, vendors, styles, locations, etc. All of those data points then become channels so soonlyweds can easily watch all Anne Barge weddings or all Kleinfeld weddings or all BloomBar weddings or all Hindu weddings, etc etc.

6) How many people watch the videos?
Every month our videos are viewed 230,000,000+ times by 9,000,000+ viewers across our site and social channels. We have 40,000+ businesses and styles listed on lovestoriestv.com.

7)  What unexpected data have you learned from this?
Here are some fun facts:

  • Brides who wear Vera Wang most commonly wear Badgley Mischka shoes

  • Grooms who marry brides who are wearing Monique Lhuillier are most commonly wearing Hugo Boss suits

  • Weddings in which the bride wears Pronovias are most commonly held in ballrooms

  • Bridesmaids most commonly wear Jenny Yoo when attending a bride in Amsale

  • Weddings where the bride wears Watters are most commonly rustic style

8) How do bridal brands, vendors etc. benefit?
Love Stories TV is a video marketplace for products and services. Any vendor or brand tagged in at least one video can claim their account, for free, allowing them to update their business page with all of their contact information and get an instant video gallery for their website.

Local wedding vendors and national brands looking to maximize the power of Love Stories TV purchase a marketing subscription in order to reach more potential customers on our site and social channels. In addition to reaching more customers on our site and social channels we provide our customers with opportunities for original custom content, events, pre-roll, podcast appearances, and more.

9) How do you see the growth of Love Stories?
We are excited to continue our growth both internationally and in the US. We already have weddings from over 200 countries and engaged couples from the US, UK, Canada, India, Australia, and all over the world. As we grow we will continue to provide more tools for couples, pros, and brands to reach their desired counterparts on lovestoriestv.com and our social channels.

10) What do you find so rewarding about this?
I love helping organizations small and large reach new customers and build their businesses. There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing from a wedding pro that they booked a new wedding, or their most expensive wedding, or first destination wedding ever from Love Stories TV. Or hearing from a designer that a bride discovered them on Love Stories TV, uploaded their video, tagged the designer, and now there is a beautiful piece of content showing that dress or suit in the best, most emotional light possible which will then inspire future customers.
